Former Head of Chicago Office Jay Porter to Lead Revere, a DJE Holdings company
Edelman has named agency and media veteran Rachel Winer president of its Chicago office, effective August 1. Winer succeeds Jay Porter, who now becomes CEO of Revere, a separate legal company within the Daniel J. Edelman Holdings family of companies that is committed to technology-related clients. In addition to being the firm’s first office, started 65 years ago, Edelman’s Chicago office is one of the firm’s global hubs and a center of excellence for brand marketing, digital, B2B and corporate advisory services.
Winer joins Edelman most recently from BuzzFeed, where she led the Chicago and Detroit offices and was responsible for growing the Central Region via brand partnerships across all business sectors. Prior to joining BuzzFeed, Winer had an agency career that spanned global leadership of storied brands, including Kellogg's and Wrigley.
“Rachel's track record of energizing and driving growth for brands, coupled with a front-row seat to the changing media environment, make her uniquely equipped to lead the next chapter of Edelman’s Chicago office and presence in the Midwest,” said Russell Dubner, CEO, Edelman US. “She has a strong point of view on the distinct value Edelman can bring to clients – the power of an earned mindset combined with a cross section of marketing know-how, from top-notch creative and editorial, to advanced analytics and channel planning, to performance marketing and ecommerce. In short, Rachel brings a client problem-solving pragmatism that befits Edelman.”
“Edelman has built a powerful arsenal to address both communications and marketing needs,” said Winer. “I know the firm Dan started here in Chicago is uniquely positioned to continue challenging labels and limits in a marketplace undergoing transformation.”
Under Porter’s leadership over the past four years, the Chicago office has broadened the firm’s capabilities to tell stories in new ways, driving measurable impact through integrated campaigns and delivering award-winning work for an array of clients. A 13-year Edelman veteran, Porter previously served as global client relationship manager for Edelman’s Starbucks account, overseeing work in more than 20 Edelman offices around the world. Prior to his work with Starbucks, he led the firm’s San Francisco office.
In his new role, Porter will lead Revere for DJE Holdings in partnership with co-founder Jamey Boike, where he will help tech-enabled companies and brands craft and communicate the stories that matter.
“It’s been an honor to lead Edelman’s founding office through a time of exciting evolution. Now, with her dynamic background, Rachel is the ideal person to advance our leadership for clients hungry for game-changing ideas and solutions,” said Porter. “The opportunity to join Revere marks a return to my tech roots, and I’m excited to bring my entrepreneurial spirit to lead with those who have built its momentum.”
